The council is running a Commonwealth Passport Scheme in celebration of Glasgow 2014.
It aims to encourage as many children and young people as possible to get active and try out a range of sports.
It will run until August and is open to children from P1 to S2.
Awards are on offer to everyone and the more sports children try, the higher the award.
Certificates and bronze, silver and gold medals will be given out at an awards ceremony in September.
David McLeish, senior sports development co-ordinator, said, "The passport programme is a fantastic opportunity for children and parents to find out what sports activities are available in the local community and for children to try a sport for the first time.
“Our local sports clubs have been fantastic in supporting this initiative and I would urge any club who hasn’t yet signed up to get involved to do so as soon as possible.
“This is a once in a generation opportunity to use the Commonwealth Games to inspire the children and young people of East Renfrewshire."
To get involved, pick up a copy of the Commonwealth Games passport within the Sports for All brochure at www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/legacy2014
The site also has details of all the sports included in the passport scheme and where they are available in East Renfrewshire.
The passport is available in the current term time activities brochure, copies of which were distributed through schools and are available at sports centres and libraries. It will also go out in the upcoming summer programme brochure.
Participants simply have to list where and when they tried the sport and have their coach sign it.
The passport scheme is run by the council’s Active Sports and sports development teams.
