The windfarm currently has 140 operational turbines, covering an area of 55 square kilometres, which generate enough electricity to power 180,000 homes.
Entry to both the windfarm and visitor centre is free and with an interactive exhibition and over 70km of trails, there is a lot to explore!
The Visitor Centre
The Exhibition has fantastic hands-on interactive activities. If you were building a windfarm would you know where to place the turbines? Would you know how many blades to give them? Would you be able to balance the country’s energy supply to meet electricity demands? Investigate this and much more!
The Learning Hub is where we host activities and workshops for members of the public and school groups.
The Café serves a selection of hot and cold food from local suppliers, teas and coffees and children’s meals. The café is surrounded with large glass windows and an external deck that provides stunning views of the windfarm. Cafe is open from 10am to 4.30pm daily.
We also have a small range of souvenirs so you can take home a reminder of your visit.
We also have free parking, free charging for electric vehicles, free WiFi, a bike shed and baby changing facilities
Outdoor Pursuits
Situated on Eaglesham Moor, Whitelee has over 130kms of tracks to explore so head outdoors and make the most of your visit. We welcome walkers, cyclists, horse riders and dog walkers to site and hope you enjoy our unique and varied setting.
Families with children
Whitelee Windfarm is a great place for the whole family to enjoy the great outdoors. Our turbine trails are largely traffic free so children can explore with confidence and bikes are welcome!

With over 130kms of trails, winding through 215 turbines, there is a lot to explore by foot for those at a beginner to more advanced level. So why not improve your fitness for free at Whitelee?
Cycling at Whitelee Windfarm
Love cycling? Bring your bike to Whitelee! There’s more than 130kms of trails to explore for both a leisurely cycle and more adventurous rides. Afterwards you can lock your bike in our cycle store, have a refreshing shower and enjoy the café and exhibitions at the Visitor Centre.
We now also offer dedicated mountain bike trails at Whitelee Windfarm, developed and managed by East Renfrewshire Council. Located a short distance from the Visitor Centre, the mountain bike trails have something for every level of rider and some picnic benches and weather shelters for observers too! Maps can be collected from the Visitor Centre.

Riding your horse at Whitelee Windfarm
Did you know that the trails at Whitelee are suitable for horse riding and we have a large car parking space ideal for horse boxes?
