East Renfrewshire hosted the annual flag raising ceremony at the council headquarters in Eastwood Park today.
The event takes place each year to honour the armed forces past and present and is part of the Armed Forces Day events.
Veterans and severing officers took part in the moving ceremony which included a march past and presentation of the colours before the flag was raised.
Provost Alastair Carmichael said: "Today we raise the flag. We do this to mark our appreciation for the contribution made by all those who serve, and who have served, in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.
"The raising of the flag is our way of marking the sacrifice, courage and dedication shown over the years by members of our armed services.
"Armed Forces Day gives us as individuals and together as a community an opportunity to show support for the men and women who make up the armed forces community.
"We are showing our respect for currently serving troops, service families, veterans and cadets.
"It is of vital important that the armed forces and the veterans are shown support and gratitude for what they achieve on their missions without regard to how or why they are there.
"They and their predecessors enable us to live our lives today in peace and freedom, something for which we should all be grateful.
"Today, this week and particularly this weekend provide us with an opportunity for us all to demonstrate our support and show how proud we are of all our soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen, veterans and cadets."
The first UK Armed Forces Day took place on 27 June 2009, it replaced Veterans' Day which was first observed in 2006.
Now in its 30th year, the show is the go-to exhibition for any self-builders or renovators looking for practical tips, expert advice, or the chance to view 1000s of products.
